- Super friendly…with my husband that is!
We would like to introduce you to our beautiful pied senegal. He is my husbands bird. He used to like me but then my husband came in too the picture and decided that he has eyes only for him. Jim can do ANYTHING with this bird!!
At one point I tried to wean him on too pellets, my bird that is, but he would have none of it and lost a fair bit of weight. As soon as I switched him back to his beloved seed mixture along with cooked grains, raw and steamed veggies, a bit of fruit and sprouts he quickly gained back the weight. He really is a gorgeous gorgeous bird.
When he first arrived here I was told that sometimes the pied in a senegal is due to a liver condition. I took him to our wonderful Avian Vet and we had him tested. His tests came back at the top end of normal. Six months later we retested him to see if there was any change and all levels were the same. We have decided that he is most likely a true pied.
